Frequently Asked Questions
What tools and parts are available?
Our workstations are kitted out with the most commonly used tools for general bike repairs. Specialized and other tools are also available, including wheel-truing stands. We provide access to tools at no charge. Parts availability varies and you’re welcome to bring your own.
Can I just come in?
We ask that you purchase your membership in advance and arrange an orientation session before your first working day. Orientation is just 15 minutes, but helps keep everyone in the shop safe.
What if I run out of time?
You’ll need to take your bike home and continue another day. We don’t allow personal bikes to be left at the shop.
What work is not allowed?
You can’t install or service e-bike conversion kits or perform electrical e-bike work within the Bike Hub.
What's in the website's Member's area?
We’ve created a portal to manage our memberships, orientation, waivers and workstation booking. It will all be done through the member’s area, accessible from this website. We’ll share special events, including volunteer opportunities, with our members as well as other things as they come up. Membership fees help to cover our costs, so please be part of it!
Can I reserve a work station?
Once you’ve become a member, the portal will prompt you to sign our waiver, (or get your parents to if you are under 18) leave an emergency contact, and register for an in-person orientation session. Once that’s complete, you’re membership will change to include Shop Access. With that level of membership work stations will be able to be booked in one-hour time slots during our opening hours. Please, please cancel in the on-line portal if you can’t make it in.
What kind of parts do you sell?
Bathtub Bikes sells a wide range of used bike parts from the 1950s to modern day, including road, mountain, cruiser, and kids’ bike components. They also carry a selection of new consumables like tubes, chains, cables, limited tires, grips, and lights. They’ll also have a ton of used bikes for sale in the showroom and trade-ins are maybe considered.
How much do used parts cost?
Most used parts fall in the $5–$10 range. Loose hardware is typically $5. Rare items may be priced at market value.
Can you check if you have a specific part?
You’re welcome to call, but the best way to find parts is to visit the shop and browse in person. Staff are happy to help once you’re in store.
What if I buy the wrong part?
We don’t offer refunds on parts, but exchanges are available. Please ask about compatibility before purchasing.
How do I know if a part will fit my bike?
Knowing your bike’s year, make, and model helps. If unsure, bring the bike in and our mechanics can assist.
I want to fix ________ on my bike. Can you help?
During shop hours there will be a mechanic on hand to support your repair work. Chances are there will be other fixers working away as well. While we won’t take the wrench, we will show, tell and support every way we can. We want you to get rolling again safely. We hope everyone will support everyone else. This is a community bike shop.
